Cees Gouw | Chairman and founder

S2U started as a small organization to connect young people from my secondary school in Veenendaal to educational projects for young people in Uganda. After 10 years, S2U has grown into a foundation with a large network in Uganda, with which we support young people in their search for entrepreneurial solutions to sustainability issues.

While guiding CLV-S2U project trips I noticed the growth of the students who were chosen to go. In Uganda, Dutch and Ugandan students travel together and eat, work and study together. This provides insight into each other's world which is an added value for mutual understanding, awareness and development.

Paul van Zijderveld | Treasurer

Trained as a financial expert, I am used to working with my head. The time I worked in Uganda and the Netherlands for NGOs and in my current position at SOS children's villages, I have become aware of how important it is to follow my heart. My faith is an important basis for this.

Hielke Wijnia | General Board member

I have been interested in other countries and cultures my whole life. This is one of the reasons I became a history teacher. In my role as principal of the Christian Lyceum Zeist, I am increasingly aware that young people feel attracted to the combination of help, growth and awareness. S2U supports young people in the Netherlands and Uganda who are looking for this.

Floor van der Kemp | General Board member

When Cees founded S2U in 2013, I wanted to connect with it. My role is to find partners with whom knowledge can be shared or support can be found. I want to use my experience and knowledge of district and area development in the field of people and technology, i.e. sustainability in the broadest sense, to expand the S2U network.

After my first trip in 2015, Uganda stayed on my mind. I knew then that I wanted to do more for the foundation. In the meantime, I have often been back to oversee projects, to network and even as a videographer, to film the work of the S2U. In this way, Uganda continues to play a role, even now in my professional career.

As a young student I went on the S2U-CLV Uganda trip in 2015. The hospitable, open Ugandans and space for young people who want to develop or  be an entrepreneur, gave me the air, work and love I was looking for. The support from the S2U network was important for me. As a board member and through my Ugandan network and experience in the transport sector, I would like to help other young people who want to know more about Africa and Uganda.

Floor Veldman | General Board member

Hi, I'm Floor! In the summer of 2024, I went to Uganda alone at the age of 16 for an exchange program by S2U. I have been a member of the board since December 2024. I think it is important to continue to commit myself to S2U, so that other young people also become aware of the opportunities that S2U has to offer. Through my involvement in the board, I hope to contribute to this.

Sophie Kyagulangi | S2U Coordinator Uganda

I have been the S2U contact person since 2023. By working together with companies, local foundations and universities, S2U has become an important partner in connecting young people with sustainability, entrepreneurship and democratic governance. As Democratic Governance Specialist, I would like to contribute to this.

Julius Buteraba | S2U Coordinator Uganda

S2U is not an organization of fine words, but maintains its contacts and keeps its agreements. That gives me certainty and confidence, also in building my own transport company. In addition, S2U connects me to ambitious Ugandan young people who, like me, want to start their own business. For me it is important that I can share my experience with them via S2U.

The potential of the international S2U network for young people and organisations became clear to me in 2015 as a lecturer at Multitech Business School. By joining with my own Foundation (CFU), I was able to strengthen and broaden my network. The presence and support of S2U in projects in Kyazanga has helped many young people.

Madinah Nabukera | Director IUIU Female Campus

As director of IUIU female campus I am closely involved in the S2U activities at my university. The Business Plan Awards and the contacts and guidance of my students in S2U activities, support the value of this Dutch foundation in education, SDGs and cultural connection. This has prompted me in Uganda to set up my own foundation connecting talents.
