Projects

Together with our Ugandan partners, we collaborate on projects in the areas of exchange, education and entrepreneurship. In this way we create a challenging and substantive program for our ambassadors.

Exchange Program

Together with the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) and specifically the Female Campus, we are trying to set up an exchange program for Ugandan students. Our Dutch ambassadors have already stayed at the female campus a few times and have followed an education program together with Ugandan students at the university. We are currently working with the director of the female campus to also be able to receive Ugandan students in the Netherlands.

To make this possible, we are working on a local Ugandan NGO in Uganda under the name " connecting talents ". Madina Nabukera is the intended chairman of this foundation and is therefore closely involved in future plans and ambitions in Uganda.

Business Awards

Every year, during our visit to the IUIU Female Campus, we present the Stick2Uganda Business Plan Awards out. This is a cash prize for students from the campus who have submitted and presented the best sustainable business plan. S2U ambassadors select the most promising entrepreneurs based on the plans and a pitch. S2U offers various cash prizes for the winners (1 x first and 2x second and 2x third prize).

This amount is made available to the winners in two parts. They receive the first part after the ceremonial presentation and the second part when the winners have actually put their plan into practice. They can use this to further expand their business. S2U Business Plan Awards are an encouragement for sustainable entrepreneurship.

Defend Defenders

Defend Defenders (DD) is a pan-African organization that stands up for people who are in some way committed to the rights of others. These can be individual activists, but also members of activist organizations, journalists or people who speak out politically about human rights. An important part of the work of Defend Defenders focuses on prevention: how do you, as an activist, prevent yourself from getting into a life-threatening situation without being silenced? That, in short, is what Defend is all about. Defenders supports. Safe but not silent!

S2U supports Defend Defenders by connecting ambassadors with the organization through Jonathan

International Labour Organisation

The International Labour Organisation (ILO) is an independent organisation set up by the United Nations. S2U ambassadors visited the Ugandan headquarters in Kampala. As with the UN, they work with conventions that are established and that countries can ratify. In Uganda, 10 projects are currently being worked on. Projects to which the Netherlands contributes relate to the refugee issue in Uganda.

Emata

In addition to projects with IUIU, we also maintain contact with local organisations and companies during our trips in search of new projects. Think of start-ups, NGOs and agricultural projects. During such a visit, the ambassadors learn about the various themes and subjects that the organisations and companies are involved in and they can ask questions. In this way, the ambassadors get a broad picture of various actors in Uganda.

The Dutch startup Emata, is a technology company that uses an algorithm to give Ugandan farmers the opportunity to borrow money at a relatively low interest rate. Emata's technology can help farmers to invest. A young talented Dutch entrepreneur runs the company. An example for entrepreneurial ambassadors.
